Just got in advance copies of Nature’s Best Hope! I adapted this nonfiction book by Doug Tallamy, and it will be on shelves this April.
Reading and working on this middle grade title made me change the way I plant my backyard. I now have asters and goldenrod and milkweed and Joe Pye weed and other natives luring in bees, birds, and butterflies. It works! Try it!
So glad you did this … I love what Doug Tallamy has to say. Can’t wait to read your book. Bought his first book 15 years ago. I have pre-ordered 3 copies of yours, so I can share the good news!
Thank you! I’m excited to get this book into the hands of young readers. Working on it definitely changed the way I think about my yard and the greenspace around me.
I am reading this with my 7th grade science class. It is a perfect way to end my ecology unit. I have been transforming our yard for the past two years and it is so satisfying. My students are enjoying it so far!
That’s so great to hear! When we hear so often about such overwhelming problems in the world, I love having a way for all of us (especially kids) to be empowered to do so something so immediate and (as you say) so satisfying.
Comment *Sarah, Your adaptation of Doug’s book is a treasure. I read it with my third graders recently. I bought one copy for each of them. It’s a fabulous book and now we are turning it into a play. I would love to chat with you about what we are doing.
A play is such a fantastic idea! I’d love to hear more!
